چکیده

The capacity for shared attention is a cornerstone of human social intelligence. Recent accounts attribute the emergence of shared attention to multiple cognitive mechanisms. Current behavioral data support an alternative dynamic systems model, but many questions remain. To answer these questions and test alternative theories, robotic models will play a critical role. Robotic models reduce the scope of the modeling task, permit comparison of empirically supported theories, and encourage parsimonious models of complex behaviors. Current efforts to model the emergence of shared attention are

Division of Labor and Structuration Theory: A Comparative and Theoretical Analysis of Marx’s and Durkheim’s Theories as the Early Approaches to Structuration Theory

To the extent that a society is to work, there exist a need for a cooperative process, including Weber’s and Merton’s note of common means and goals. But at the same time, there exist no societal process without involving conflict; (conflict in a dynamic and dialectical sense.) Dealing with this problematic situation the emergence of “division of labor”, as a compulsive social differentiation, ...

A Two-stage DEA Model Considering Shared Inputs, Free Intermediate Measures and Undesirable Outputs

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) has been proved to be an excellent approach for measuring the performance of decision-making units (DMUs) that use multiple inputs to generate multiple outputs. But the allocation problem of shared inputs and undesirable outputs does not arouse attention in this movement. This paper proposes a two-stage DEA model considering simultaneously the structure of shared...

Attentional Demand of Speech in Children and Adolescents with Developmental Stuttering

Background & Objective: Stuttering is a prevalent disorder in children and adolescents. Because attention is the only fuel resource for cognitive functions and the language have high cognitive functions, then it is possible that speech difficulties are related to attention deficit. The purpose of this study was to investigate the attentional demand of speech in children and adolescents with dev...

Application of Grounded Theory in The Emergence of an Urban Theory: Regeneration of the Central Part of Mashhad

The knowledge of urban planning relies on the precise understanding of the relationship between the human and the environment seeking to improve the quality of human life and built environment. Thus, this knowledge requires a theoretical foundation through which a better understanding of urban issues can be developed, and a suitable solution can be proposed. Therefore, production and explanatio...

Learning to Interpret Pointing Gestures: Experiments with Four-Legged Autonomous Robots

In order to bootstrap shared communication systems, robots must have a non-verbal way to influence the attention of one another. This chapter presents an experiment in which a robot learns to interpret pointing gestures of another robot. We show that simple feature-based neural learning techniques permit reliably to discriminate between left and right pointing gestures. This is a first step tow...
